Lok Adalat settles 328 cases in Cuttack

Cuttack: At least 328 motor vehicle accident claim cases were settled on a single day at a state-level Lok Adalat held here in Cuttack district judge court premises.

Presided over by judges of the Orissa High Court, Justice L Mohapatra and Justice R N Biswal, cases between claimants and at least four insurance companies were mutually settled yesterday, officials said.

An amount of Rs 3.76 crore were awarded to different claimants while disposing cases pending for the past several years.

The insurance companies involved in the cases include National Insurance, United India Insurance, New India Assurance and Oriental Insurance.

Besides Cuttack district judge Bira Kishore Mishra, other judicial officers of the court including court registrar Basudev Panda and Cuttack district collector K K Mohanty were present on the occasion.
